As the creative force and artist behind Contemporary Headwear, Chrissa has combined her passion for fashion, pop music and the elegance and charm of France, Japan and New York City with an entrepreneurial approach that is both practical and intuitive.
Growing up, Chrissa dreamed of immersing herself in the world of fashion design, but her dad urged her consider a more "practical" career. She decided to study business instead, and earned her degree at Northeastern University in Boston, MA.
Shortly after graduating, Chrissa began creating original hair accessories and selling the pieces at street fairs and art shows. Over time she used her education to launch her own business, Contemporary Headwear, focusing on hair accessories for girls in order to develop expertise in the children’s industry.
Sales grew as Chrissa attended trade events and collaborated with specialty retailers to buy her charming designs and cleverly constructed display and storage stands. Today Contemporary Headwear has expanded to include accessories for babies, women, pets, and dolls, as well as keepsake boxes that are perfect for gift giving or stashing special treasures.
Chrissa’s father had also instilled in her an appreciation for quality craftsmanship. Each of her exquisitely detailed hair clips, headbands and ponytail holders – handmade in the USA – is as durable as it is adorable.
A dedicated student of Eastern philosophy, Chrissa is guided by the principle of applying mindfulness in business and life. Welcome to Contemporary Headwear online, where creativity is always in style!
